The experience is more like opening a drawer and finding a map of the moon, a botanical plate, a diagram of an invented machine, and a face you cannot stop looking at.

It is unusually good because browsing is generous. The essays are there, but so is the image detail, the source information, the date, and the trail back to the collection. One detail I love is the way an image can lead to a family of images without becoming an endless feed. It feels edited, not optimized.
